After reading the first 9 chapters of this book, I think I've lost interest in Bruce Lee. I'm not saying that he's boring, but his life story isn't really that appealing to me. I think an autobiography from Tony Hawk will be more interesting because I can know his own opinion about his life, but back to my final post about Bruce Lee. There's this one part of the reading that really intrigued me. In Chapter Four, there was a part where Taky Kimura recounted how he first met Bruce. He says, "They told me I just had to go and see him. Now, I'd seen martial artists in Japan who were older and more experienced so I didn't see how a young kid could could be any better, but they kept insisting."
Really, there was a lot of prejudice that could be seen from Kimura's statement. I'm so glad to know that I haven't been a victim of this preemptive prejudice ever before in my life. To me, it's a bit shocking that someone would dare to ever think of a young man less capable than an older man. It must feel very horrible to know that you are already judged by someone you don't really know yet, and he doesn't know you either. No one deserves to be judged badly at all! Have any of you guys ever been preemptively prejudiced like Bruce Lee (maybe by me)? How does it feel to know that someone would judge you so harshly before even meeting you? If I did judge you too early, I deeply apologize.
